Hotel Villa Convento - Budget family-run guesthouse near French Market

This three-story brick Creole townhouse was built circa 1833 and is rumored to be the legendary House of the Rising Sun. Located on a quiet street in the French Quarter, it is a block from the Mississippi River and the outdoor French Market. The property offers free Wi-Fi, a guest computer in the lobby, and a collection of books. The front desk is staffed by family and long-time associates. Complimentary coffee and tea are served in the lobby throughout the day. Jimmy Buffet was a former tenant.
